Ever since I was 12, I was interested in a career in broadcasting. I always loved the technical side of it and doing live events and cutting between cameras and such. I had a particular interest in the radio field of broadcasting/communications. I spent over a year developing a strong radio-based knowledge and skill-set. I learned how to create a radio station; how to integrate different elements such as music, software, and how to produce a good quality program. From there, I started my own internet radio station, collected money to build my own studio with professional equipment, and joined four reputable internet radio stations.
I still do radio at a couple radio stations such as 88.7 FM WNHU at the University of New Haven and I interned at AM 1220 WQUN at Quinnipiac University. My goal when I started college was and still is to take courses that lead me to my ultimate goal of either working a professional radio station or work behind the scenes of a TV station or run a camera at professional events.
There is a quote that I heard recently at an orientation event that I attended a few years ago that really spoke to me and made me feel even more that I was on the right path to my career. “You can do anything you want in life, but you can only be the best at what you already love to do”.
