Slam Jams

With Doug Schmidt, Jake Paul and Jackson Cooper

Slam Jams is a brand-new show to 88.7 WNHU. Coming from diverse backgrounds of music, you can be sure to hear a song you know and love or discover some you’ve never heard before! Playing alt-rock, top 40, and underground, you’re sure to hear something just for you!

Doug Schmidt is a first year Paramedicine major at the University of New Haven, transferring here after a semester in Florida. Doug grew up and still calls Vermont home where he volunteers as an EMT and spends time dirt biking and skiing. Doug brings a taste of top-40 and alternative music to Slam Jams, highlighting bands from Migos and Post Malone to the Lumineers and The Head and the Heart. If it sounds good, he’ll play it!

Jake Paul is a first-year music industry student at the University of New Haven. He has been with the university radio station since the first semester of the 2018-2019 school year. He lives 20 minutes outside Philadelphia and has been to over 100 concerts and music festivals since mid 2014. With a focus in the new wave alternative and indie music, he enjoys featuring music like Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, and Florence + the Machine.

Jackson Cooper is a first-year music industry student at the University of New Haven. Jackson grew up outside of Philadelphia before moving to Connecticut during high school. Jackson participates in multiple musical communities, so he is very well versed in all types of music. Focusing more on bringing local and underground music to the radio, Jackson will focus on bringing Post-Grunge and Post-Rock styles to WNHU!
