The Folk Show

With John Mazza

John Mazza was born and raised on Long Island, and moved to Connecticut in 1973. John has an MBA in Finance from University of Connecticut, and was an accountant/financial analyst for several major U.S. corporations. Now retired, John has been a community volunteer at WNHU since August 1998.

The Folk Show features traditional and tradition-based fold music of the English-speaking world, covering the United States, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and Great Britain, with occasional excursions into other parts of the world and other languages.

The Folk Show takes a scholarly approach to the music: John researches the culture, history, superstitions, religious beliefs, and folk customs of the people who created these musical selections. The Folk Show’s goal is to provide “thoughtful, intelligent programming for thoughtful, intelligent listeners”.
